چکیده

In this talk I will review some recent progress in our understanding of properties of high density quark matter. This talk is based mainly on the papers [1]–[4], done in collaboration with D. Rischke, M. Stephanov, and A. Zhitnitsky. In recent years, our knowledge of dense quark matter has considerably expanded. We now understand that, quark matter at high densities exhibits the phenomenon of color superconductivity, which determines the symmetry of the ground state and its infrared dynamics. In the simplest case of N f = 2 massless quarks, the ground state of at high baryon densities is the 2SC state [5], characterized by the condensation of diquark Cooper pairs. These pairs are antisymmetric in spin (α, β), flavor (i, j) and color (a, b):

We study the effect of SU (3) flavor breaking on high density quark matter. We discuss, in particular, the effect a non-zero electron chemical potential and a finite strange quark mass. We argue that these perturbations trigger pion or kaon condensation. The critical chemical potential behaves as µ e ∼ √ mm s ∆/p F and the critical strange quark mass as m s ∼ m 1/3 ∆ 2/3 , where m is the light ...

It was recently shown that there exists metastable U(1)A domain wall configurations in high-density QCD (μ ≫ 1 GeV). We will assess the stability of such nontrivial field configurations at intermediate densities (μ < 1 GeV). The existence of such configurations at intermediate densities could have interesting consequences for the physics of neutron stars where such densities are realized.

The " non-Abelian " part of the quark contribution to the BFKL kernel in the next-to-leading order (NLO) is found in the coordinate representation by direct transfer of the contribution from the momentum representation where it was calculated before. The results obtained are used for the examination of conformal properties of the NLO BFKL kernel and of the relation between the BFKL and color di...

We discuss how the dynamics of the evolving hot fireball of quark–gluon matter impacts phase transition between the deconfined and confined state of matter. The rapid expansion of the fireball of deconfined matter created in heavy ion collisions facilitates formation of an over-saturated strange quark phase space. The related excess abundance of strangeness is compensating the suppression of th...
